Brief Job Description:

The LTCR Automation Trainer is responsible for delivering high-quality training to adult learners on the policies, procedures, and technology tools related to long-term care facility surveys for a state regulatory agency. This role focuses heavily on training administrative assistants and surveyors in administrative and automation-based tasks and use of agency systems. The Trainer designs and updates instructional materials, provides both in-person and virtual training, and serves as a resource during system implementations and procedural rollouts. This position requires up to 45% overnight travel statewide. Strong instructional design skills, knowledge of adult learning principles, and the ability to work independently are essential.

 

Essential Job Functions (EJFs):

  • Deliver Instructor-Led and Virtual Training (60%)
    • Facilitate engaging, structured training sessions for adult learners, including administrative assistants and surveyors.
    • Travel (up to 60%, overnight required) to deliver in-person training across the state, ensuring consistent application of agency policies and procedures.
  • Develop and Maintain Training Materials (25%)
    • Design and update job aids, presentations, manuals, and e-learning modules specific to administrative and automation-related survey tasks.
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts and program staff to ensure content is accurate, policy-compliant, and tailored to diverse learning styles.
    • Review and revise training resources based on participant feedback, technology updates, or policy changes.
  • Support System and Process Implementation (10%)
    • Serve as a training liaison during rollouts of new systems, technology tools, or policy-driven process changes.
    • Identify training needs through user support requests, error trends, or procedural changes and recommend or deliver appropriate interventions.
  • Other duties as assigned (5%)

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Automation programs utilized by Long Term Care Regulatory Services programs such as TULIP, ASPEN, ASEQ, iQIES, ACTs, etc.
  • Long-Term Care Regulatory Services nursing facility surveying policy and procedures
  • Employee development principles, practices, and techniques
  • Group processes, group dynamics, and interpersonal relations
  • Innovation training and development techniques and best practices
  • Instructional design and curriculum development principles, including the development of learning objectives

Skill in:

  • Problem identification, analysis, and resolution.
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Evaluating quality and effectiveness of training programs and analyzing results
  • Facilitating workshops, training and development sessions, and meetings
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
  • Applying training and employee development procedures and techniques
  • Using a computer and applicable software such as ASPEN, TULIP, Word, PowerPoint, Excel

Ability to:

  • Managing workload within a given timeframe and/or deadline
  • Summarize complex information for agency decision-makers
  • Assess and analyze employee development needs an develop effective project plans

Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications:

Must possess a valid Texas driver license or obtain it no later than 90 days after hire date to drive a state vehicle.  Successful completion of Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT) preferred.

Initial Screening Criteria:

  • 12 months experience in Long-term Care Regulatory environment.
  • Degree from an accredited college/university preferred.
  • Experience with Adult Learning Principles preferred.
