Texas Health and Human Services Commission

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) serves millions of people each month.

HHSC administers mental health and substance use services, regulates child care and nursing facilities, aids Texans with special health care needs, deploys disaster relief assistance and provides resources to fight human trafficking.

HHSC oversees 12 inpatient, psychiatric hospitals that treat mental illness and 13 residential living centers that provide care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

HHSC also administers the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program (TANF); the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program (SNAP); the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC); Medicaid; and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

Our team works together to provide a wide range of benefits and services because we care about Texans. By joining HHSC, you will work where your work makes a difference.
