The Dietetic Technician I performs beginning level therapeutic duties in facility under the supervision of nutrition professional. Work involves assisting the nutrition professional in related duties, some routine clinical record keeping and direct contact with individuals. Work requires advanced technical skills required to utilize computer programs
Essential Job Functions (EJFs):
Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
1. Assist in conducting nutritional screenings/nutritional clinics.
2. Responsible for accurately printing and distribution of weekly individual diet cards and as needed.
3. Prepares, prints and distributes snack labels weekly or as needed with appropriate changes.
4. Reviewing individual’s records for collection of specified data, using pre-determined criteria, for use in assessing nutritional status.
5. Processes all incoming diet orders, using established guidelines, for preparation of diet cards.
6. Track all individual moves and transitions to assure diet card/snack labels and orders are accurate.
7. Tracking and delivery of nutritional supplements to respective units as needed
8. Participates in routine diet/snack audits.
9. Performs clerical duties for the department.
Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
1. Must have completed high school or equivalent.
2. Considerable skill in human relations.
3. Ability to organize and manage time and work activities of self without direct supervision.
4. Ability to maintain complex files and records, and to prepare technical and statistical reports.
5. Ability to understand and follow policy and procedures and communicate them to others.
6. Ability to clearly communicate in written English.
7. Must have a valid Texas Driver's License and a driving record that meets the state of Texas and HHS driving requirements.

Initial Screening Criteria
- Graduation from an accredited high school or GED.
- Clerical work experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
Additional Information:
Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct and HHS List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

All State Supported Living Center Employees are subject to Random Drug Testing.
Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
