Brief Job Description:

The Smart Training Program Coordinator performs complex (journey-level) consultative and technical assistance work related to the Texas Civil Commitment Office Reentry Reboot client training program.   The Smart Training Program Coordinator is responsible for providing instruction and supervision to civilly committed sexually violent predator clients.  The Reentry Reboot program provides clients with up-to-date hands on workplace technology training such as computer skills and life skills.  Work involves planning, developing, and monitoring vocational & educational programs; and providing consultative and technical assistance to agency staff and clients. May provide guidance to others. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Essential Job Functions (EJFs):

Plans, develops, and monitors vocational and educational programs for the development of workplace technology skills.

Delivers training in a classroom or e-learning environment.

Participates in the planning and development of specialized training programs for clients.

Provides supervision and guidance to clients participating in e-learning programs. Manages client behavior in the classroom.

Analyzes training needs, develops curricula, course outline, training aids, and other instructional materials.

 

Administer and collect program and class evaluation surveys and feedback forms from program participants and other stakeholders.

Provide meaningful coaching opportunities to help program participants with problem solving skills, life-skills, setting priorities and identifying values.

Maintain an encouraging, positive and respectful learning environment while providing exceptional customer services to program participants, partnering agencies and other stakeholders.

Meet regularly with participants to assess program progress, provide supports and constant encouragement.

Input all participant documentation, program/training progress, activities and case notes into tracking database or designated spreadsheets.

Ensure all participant files are adequately maintained and all records are kept confidential.


Develops learning objectives and evaluates and effectiveness.

Establishes training schedule and coordinates classes.

Acts as liaison with agencies and internal program staff to explain and provide technical assistance or training on statutory agency and program educational requirements.

Conducts surveys, reviews, and/or monitoring activities to determine compliance with program requirements, laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Collaborates with program staff to determine trends and resolve technical problems.

Collects, organizes, analyzes, and prepares materials in response to requests for program information and reports.

Prepares administrative reports and performs work on studies and specialized projects.

Prepares comprehensive reviews of literature, statutes, rules, and/or policies.

Prepares justifications for implementing procedural or policy changes.

Reviews and analyzes educational program functions and operations; prepares reports of findings and recommendations to produce a more effective program and/or address areas of concern.

Prepares surveys and performs monitoring activities to determine compliance with program requirements, laws, regulations, policies, and procedures; recommends corrective action as needed.

May monitor the achievement of program goals and recommend action(s) to improve effectiveness.

May assist in preparing program budget.

May coordinate activities to produce a more effective program.

May develop policy and procedure manuals.

May provide guidance to others.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws related to the program area; of public administration and management techniques; of statistical analysis processes; and of program planning and implementation.

Knowledge of training and development procedures and techniques; learning management and learning content management systems; group processes, group dynamics, and interpersonal relations; and instructional and curriculum design.

Skill in oral and written communication; instructing others; and using a computer and applicable software.

Ability to lift 25 pounds. Ability to stand/walk for an extended period of time to provide classroom instruction and circulate through the classroom to address client needs.

Ability to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts; to devise solutions to problems; to develop and evaluate policies and procedures; to prepare reports; to communicate effectively; and to provide guidance to others.

Ability to formulate learning objectives, to develop training materials, to assess the effectiveness of training, and to assess training needs.

Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications:

Valid Texas Driver's License required. 

Experience training Microsoft Office applications or Microsoft certification preferred. 

Current Texas teaching certificate preferred. 

Initial Screening Criteria:

Experience in education or instructional design, technical training, or reentry services. Experience working with a criminal justice population preferred.


Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in education, training, or computer science preferred.

Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
