Brief Job Description:
Performs advanced reproduction work in a large state agency printing facility. Work involves operating an offset printing press producing high quality printed materials. Works under general direction of the production supervisor with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Must be able to lift and move 30 lbs. Requires long periods of standing in a work area environment that contains significant noise exposure.
Essential Job Functions (EJFs):
Operate press in a safe and efficient manner, produce quality work in a timely manner from job order instructions, match ink color to PANTONE standards using densitometer and color bars to manage print quality, perform press wash ups, perform regular maintenance as required, and enter completed job information into system. 100%
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
Operate printing press to produce quality work with minimal supervision.
Produce print work within production deadlines.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as order tickets, operating, maintenance, and procedure manuals.
Perform basic mathematical computations.
Ability to identify various paper types and weights.
Verify proper ink color and density on paper.
Troubleshoot problems and find solutions to complete jobs.
Have basic mechanical aptitude.
Willingness to cross-train on other printing equipment.
Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications:
N/A
Initial Screening Criteria:
Minimum 5 years’ experience operating offset printing presses.
Preferred:
Previous experience operating different types of printing machinery.
