Brief Job Description

Performs entry-level to routine (journey-level) forensic accounting work. Work involves examining,
investigating, and reviewing records, reports, financial statements, and management practices
to ensure legal compliance with state statutes and internal regulations; and conducting audits
for program economy, efficiency, and effectiveness. Works under moderate supervision, with
limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Essential Job Functions

EJF 1: Forensic Accounting Execution/Technical (55%)
Completes forensic accounting assignments in compliance with professional standards and OIG policies and procedures.
Works with guidance and supervision from MCU Manager. Works with Valid8 bank reconciliation application, prepares bank statement analysis, analizes third party payment systems, and prepares reports.
EJF 2: Communication (25%)
Prepares forensic accounting analysis reports in conformance with forensic accounting standards and effective business writing practices.
Communicates with MCU manager on status of assigned tasks.
EJF 3: Time Management (15%)
Completes assigned tasks within established timeframes.
EJF 4: Other (5%)
Performs other work as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of accounting and auditing methods and systems; generally accepted auditing
standards and procedures; and computer technology principles, terminology, programming, and
automated systems.
Skill in the use of a computer, applicable software, and sampling techniques.
Ability to compose clear and concise audit reports, to gather and analyze accurate and relevant
audit information, to evaluate documents for accuracy and legal conformance, and to
communicate effectively.

N/A

Initial Screening Criteria
Experience in accounting or auditing work. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or
university with major coursework in accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or
a related field is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one
another.
