Brief Job Description:
Performs routine (journey-level) accessibility work. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Duties include analyzing and remediating all types of electronic documents to eliminate accessibility and structural defects. Assists senior accessibility specialists with web testing assignments and the development of training materials and job aids.
Essential Job Functions (EJFs):
EJF 1: Analyzes and tests all information communication technology formats, including PDFs, Microsoft Office documents, websites, desktop applications, and mobile applications, to meet accessibility standards. Consults with document authors on remediation requirements. Consults with senior accessibility specialists leads or manager on the classification of accessibility issues to develop an expert knowledge of the 55 WCAG success criterium. Recommends changes to make content accessible and remediates accessibility issues, including applying template styles, ensuring meta data is correct, and that pdfs have the correct tag structure and reading order. Works with support from senior accessibility specialists and leads to improve skills and become more independent. (35%)
EJF 2: With the support of accessibility leads and coordinators, provides coaching, guidance, training and technical support to document authors, content creators, and developers on remediation of EIR to meet accessibility compliance standards. This includes providing one-on-one instruction to document authors on using the HHS templates and manipulating the PDF tag tree and order panel. Ensures implementation of industry best practices for accessibility services for digital content and Electronic Information Resources, such as brochures, flyers, webpages, documents, forms, and training materials and ensures compliance with all Federal, State, and agency procedures, policies, rules, and laws. (30%)
EJF 3: Creates reports that describe accessibility obstacles as well as provide technical guidance and recommendations to overcome obstacles. Concentrates on validating the results of automated testing tools and performing the manual tests described by those tools and conveying those results in language that can be understood by people who are not experts in accessibility. Delivers testing results to internal customers and participates in follow-up discussions to develop a roadmap in effort to improve the accessibility and usability of agency resources. (20%)
EJF 4: Participates in the development and delivery of instructional materials, aids, and manuals to meet training needs by reviewing materials created by senior accessibility specialists and providing suggestions for improvement from the perspective of someone who is still learning accessibility. With experience, may create initial drafts of materials for review by senior accessibility specialists and the manager. (10%)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of accessibility guidelines, standards, rules and laws relating to accessibility for electronic information resources for people with disabilities including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Texas Government Code Section 2054.460, and Texas Administrative Code Chapters 206 and 213.
- Expert level accessibility knowledge of MS Office and PDF documents.
Skills:
- Able to independently conduct research and present findings on technical topics, including accessibility and coding standards, development and authoring tool sets, and user experience and user interface design.
- Able to work and communicate effectively with diverse teams including technical and non-technical staff, designers, developers, content authors, managers, purchasing staff, legal and executive leadership.
- Able to write effectively and professionally about highly technical topics for technical and non-technical audiences.
Abilities:
- The ability to train others in using MS Office, Adobe Acrobat Professional and other authoring tools to produce accessible documents and forms.

Initial Screening Criteria:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Plus, a minimum of two years of full-time experience in the development, implementation, or interpretation of policies and procedures for Electronic and Information Resources in a public or private agency.
- Experience and Education may be substituted for one another.
Additional Information:
Must meet a score of 80% or higher in the pre-screening assessment.
