Brief Job Description:
Physical Database Administrator (PDBA) supporting TIERS Databases on a 24x7 environment. Reports to the Manager of TIERS Data Center Services. PDBAs perform physical database administration, developing and maintaining the TIERS Oracle database so that they are highly available, fault tolerant, recoverable and performing at 100% expectancy. Additional PDBA support is provided for the Oracle databases associated with custom in-house applications, performing both physical and logical DBA support for the Oracle databases associated with third party tools (PPM, Cognos, Informatica, etc.); administering database security for TIERS Operations; performing logical tasks including schema build-outs for tools metadata repositories; providing Production Service Request (PSR) administration, script customization, and responding to audits. This position requires on-call support on a rotating basis.
Essential Job Functions (EJFs):
Perform DB refreshes/clones and provide support for building development and testing DBs. (20%)
Install, Patch and Upgrade database software. (15%)
Execute, schedule, restore, and maintain DB backups. (15%)
Configure and maintain a highly available database architecture including Real Application Clusters (RAC), DataGuard, an Automatic Storage Management (ASM). (15%)
Troubleshoot the database software and its infrastructure and where necessary engage and support the software vendor with problem analysis and resolution (10%)
Participate in performance monitoring and root cause analysis in DB layer and other layers as applicable. (5%)
Provide tight security for all data and support for third party vendor tools such as Privileged Identify Manager (PIM), Imperva Data Security Fabric, etc. (5%)
Support Agile sprints when required. (5%)
Provide support for PSR Team including analyzing, troubleshooting, and executing data corrections production databases (5%)
Manage accounts for users that access to production data. Develop procedures for documenting accounts and monitor user compliance. (5%)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
Experience supporting custom development
environments.
ITIL and Governance experience preferred.
In-depth knowledge of Oracle internal views, shell & SQL scripting.
Experience managing Oracle databases version 19C on Linux.
Solid experience in managing Oracle version 19C databases with Automated Storage Management (ASM), Real Application Clusters (RAC), and Data Guard.
Experience developing tools to administer large numbers of test & development database environments.
Experience with on call and carrying 24x7 pager for supporting Production & Development database systems.
Experience designing, installing & maintaining large size databases.
Performance Tuning large size databases & applications.
Thorough knowledge & working experience in setting up infrastructure for databases in datacenters at multiple sites including cloud infrastructure.
Working experience in moving live production, development and testing database and applications hosted in different physical sites including cloud environments.
Experience with administration of Oracle database on Oracle ExaData.
Experience using Remedy and/or Service Now.
Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications:
ITIL Foundation Certification preferred.
Oracle Certified Professional is preferred.
AWS cloud certification is preferred.
Initial Screening Criteria:
Experience supporting Oracle Linux Databases on Exadata.
Experience with Oracle 19c or higher.
Experienced in Oracle Grid, RAC, and Data Guard.
Experience with Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM).
Strong performance tuning skills.
