Duties include: assisting with establishing program goals and objectives; assisting with developing program guidelines, procedures, and policies; assisting with developing schedules and priorities; assisting with evaluating program activities; and providing consultative and technical services and training to agency program staff, other governmental agencies, public/private community organizations, contracted service providers, consumers, and the general public.
Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs other duties as assigned.
Coordinates and monitors accessibility requests for captioning and interpretation services for in-person and virtual training sessions.
Performs work as assigned.
Knowledge of deaf and hard of hearing community cultures and how they differ, and the communication modalities and assistive technology used by members of these communities.
Skill in expressive (oral and written) communication, in instructing others, and in facilitating online training and workshops.
Skill in the use of Microsoft applications and ability to troubleshoot tech issues, particularly with webinar platforms.
Skill to plan, organize, and complete projects for efficient results and accuracy.
Ability to formulate learning goals and objectives, to develop training objectives, to assess the effectiveness of training, to assess training needs, to develop and evaluate administrative policies and procedures, to prepare concise reports, to communicate effectively, and to speak effectively in public.
Ability to communicate effectively directly with consumers who are deaf or hard of hearing, specifically using American Sign Language and in writing.
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university is required, with a focus on education, training, organizational development, or a related field. Relevant experience may substitute for educational qualifications on a year-by-year basis.
- Experience in public speaking and presentation development.
- Experience in planning, organizing, and completing projects.
- Experience with communication using American Sign Language.
