Brief Job Description: Document Services Technician V
Performs highly advanced (senior-level) bindery services work. Work involves the operation and maintenance of bindery equipment, and the scheduling of work in the bindery area.
Oversees and trains staff in bindery. Works with the Production Manager to assist in scheduling of jobs and monitor progress to ensure deadlines are met. Communicate with other areas concerning the status of jobs. Serve as a lead worker providing direction to others. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Job Functions (EJFs):
Oversee daily operation of bindery department. 40%
Determines job priorities and schedules jobs through the bindery department. 20%
Assist bindery staff as needed with operation, maintenance, scheduling and troubleshooting issues. 2%
Communicate with other departments on the status of jobs. 2%
Set up and operate bindery equipment to complete jobs with minimal waste. 20%
Ensures production standards are followed. 2%
Evaluates production processes for effectiveness and efficiency. 1%
Checks quality of finished jobs to ensure acceptable quality standards are met. 10%
Read and accurately follow instructions on job ticket. 2%
Record production data in log and on job tickets. 1%
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of: Printing and bindery functions.
Skill in: The set up and operation of folders, booklet makers, cutters, collators, and stitchers.
Ability to: Follow written and oral instructions. Ability to lift and move items weighing 30 pounds. Ability to stand/walk on hard floors for an extended period. Ability to work harmoniously and productively with co-workers. Ability to work irregular hours.
Ability to maintain accurate records. Ability to make basic mathematical computations and tabulations. Ability to communicate clearly with other workers.
Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications:
N/A
Initial Screening Criteria:
5 years experience operating bindery equipment and managing post press workflow.
Previous experience serving as a supervisor or lead worker providing direction to others.
