The Office of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) is seeking an Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Workflow Automation Intern to focus on analyzing and improving business processes using Microsoft Automation Tools. This role involves identifying inefficiencies, and recommending automation solutions, collaborating and presenting to stakeholders to streamline workflow and enhance operational efficiency. The position is temporary in nature and is on-site in Austin, Texas for 15 hours per week during regular business hours.
Essential Job Functions (EJFs):
Research AI cases in public sector operations and assist with drafting and presenting AI Project Proposal Submission forms.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to map workflows, identify workflow inefficiencies and recommend automation, gather and validate requirements with stakeholders, share insights in meetings, and refine solutions with IT and business teams based on feedback and evolving needs.
Assist in documenting process improvements, creating user guides and technical documentation, assisting with testing and user acceptance and tracking performance metrics.
Investigate user-friendly applications with PowerApps to enhance data entry, reporting, and streamline processes through interactive forms and dashboards connected to backend data sources.
Research and recommend automation technologies (e.g., RPA, AI-driven solutions).
Support the implementation of automation pilots and track performance metrics.
Assist in documenting process improvements/ SOPs for AI-enhanced dashboards and predictive maintenance tools and providing support during testing and implementation. Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and provide troubleshooting support as needed.
Participate in meetings to share insights, progress, and recommendations for process enhancements. Collaborate with IT and business teams to refine solutions based on feedback and evolving business needs.

Initial Screening Criteria:
Currently pursuing or completed a degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field. Coursework in applying AI to business processes is preferred.
Experience with process mapping, workflow analysis, and automation tools to identify inefficiencies, with a focus on using Microsoft tools.
Experience with stakeholder engagement.
Experience using Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI, Python, SQL, and RPA tools is preferred.

The position is temporary in nature and requires all work hours to be completed on-site in Austin.
