Brief Job Description:
In your role as an Accountant III on the Accounting Operations Support and Oversight team, you’ll become a specialist on the Warrant Distribution team. You’ll perform accounting tasks and in time serve as a functional specialist on the team. You’ll receive, track, and distribute payroll and non-payroll warrants. You’ll find creative solutions to share with the team and beyond. You’ll use tools provided by the agency, the State Comptroller, State Treasury, and the Internal Revenue Service to make decisions handling negotiable instruments. As a first line contact, you’ll help external and internal customers understand accounting rules and regulations. You’ll do research, resolve discrepancies, respond to questions, and overall provide excellent customer service to vendors and employees. In this position, you’ll have a unique opportunity to learn multiple functions. You’ll learn to document processes and use that documentation to guide others in the use of software applications. This critical position is responsible for all payroll and non-payroll processing of warrants, payments issued to vendors, providers, and employees according to the rules and regulations established by the State Legislature, Comptroller and Internal Revenue Service. This position is instrumental in ensuring that all warrants are issued timely and accurately to avoid potential delays in the distribution of warrants.
You’ll learn to respond to customer needs and to create and share reports.
