Job Description: 

Under the general supervision of the Regional Immunization Program Manager, this position serves as the PHR Subject Matter Expert on vaccine recommendations, health planning, PHR and LHD contract activities, and will be consultant to all immunization function areas. This position collects and reports on PHR immunization activities as well as training and reviewing the contracted Local Health Department’s report of activities and annual auditing. The position utilizes databases to accesses regional immunization programing education needs, prepares goals and objectives, prepares immunization educational materials, and presents immunization trainings to various stakeholders and community groups including professional conference, schools, community organizations, providers, and the general public. Evaluates the effectiveness of Immunization Program educational activities in the region. Works as a team with all program coordinators and is and is involved in planning, developing and implementing educational programming activities and providing consultative services and technical assistance to program staff, government agencies, community organizations, or the general public. May train others. Works under limited supervision, with initiative and independent judgement.

 

Essential Job Functions (EJFs):   

Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.

(40%) Trains, monitors and reviews required activities and documents from Immunization Contractors. Works with Program manager to plan and organize LHD and Responsible Entity Meetings and education events. Assists in conducting contract site reviews of Local Health Departments (LHD) with the region and completing required documentation. Prepares monthly, and quarterly administrative reports of immunization program activities. Reviews LHD quarterly reporting and provides training and guidance on the reporting process. Organizes the tracking and documentation of immunization team activities as they relate to the contract requirements and program specific manuals. Conducts quality assurance reviews both internally, within Region 6/5S programs and externally with contracted partners.

 

(30%) Assist with orientation, education, continued training and program accountability for team members. Presents project updates to manager, provides feedback for team member performance evaluations. In coordination with manager acts as the designee in assigning tasks. Works with TVFC Team Lead to plan, schedule and monitor progress of provider recruitment and recommends appropriate control measures. Works with TVFC Team Lead to develop and carry out provider education plans. Works with Immunization Compliance Auditor to develop and carry out plans for the completion of population assessments assigned to region. Works with Regional ImmTrac Coordinator to develop and carry out plans to comply with ImmTrac program requirements and plans activities to promote registry and increase vaccine coverage. Works with Adult & Adolescent Immunization Coordinator to meet program goals and plan activities. Researches and implements best practices applicable to immunization program goals and develops plans.

 

(25%) Collaborates in planning and directing the development of education programs and training related to vaccines and vaccine preventable diseases. Prepares quarterly newsletter for stakeholders and public. Coordinates quarterly education opportunities for stakeholders and public. Leads planning in regional vaccine awareness campaigns. Works with internal and external partners on awareness, education, and recruitment of state immunization program activities. Acts as a point of contact for technical questions involving immunization other surveys which may require individual or group trainings.

 

(5%) Other Duties as Assigned: Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. Safe operation of either a state-owned vehicle or personal vehicle is required to conduct state business, and an acceptable driving record must be maintained in accordance with DSHS Policy and standards developed by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Complies with the Department of State Health Services Immunization Policy.

Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications:         Must possess a valid Class C Texas driver’s license, or equivalent license from another state.

 

 

Initial Screening Criteria: 

Bachelor's degree with coursework in a public health or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. May substitute education with work experience in public health on a year-to-year basis.

Master’s degree in public health or related discipline preferred.

Two years work experience in public health services or a related field.

Work experience in immunization services preferred.

Experience with computer databases or electronic registries

Must comply with agency immunization policy

Compliance with DSHS Immunization Policy required: serologic evidence of immunity to, or documented evidence of vaccination against, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chickenpox), Tdap, annual vaccination against influenza (and hepatitis B if applicable).

 

Safe operation of either a state-owned vehicle or personal vehicle is required to conduct state business, applicants will have their driving records checked through the Department of Public Safety and applicants must have a valid Class C Texas driver's license, or equivalent license from another state.
