Under the supervision of the Vaccine Operations Group Manager and the limited leadership of the Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) Program Specialist V, this position performs professional consultative services and technical assistance with public health duties for the TVFC Program by providing technical consultation to health care professionals, health service regions and local health departments enrolled in the TVFC program. This position serves as the subject matter expert by answering questions about the TVFC program. This position also maintains the TVFC Program recruitment tracking systems and communicates with TVFC stakeholders. Job duties also include conducting customer surveys of health care professionals who recent underwent a QA review and gathers the information for review.

Essential Job Functions:

(25%) Provides technical consultation to health care professionals, health service regions and local health departments that are enrolled in the TVFC program. Immediately informs team lead of issues that are brought to attention. Serves as a resource by answering questions about the TVFC program. Assists with data entry into the CDC vaccine ordering system, Vtrcks, as well as conducting QA activities for data entry.  Develops and maintains tracking system for TVFC provider enrollments and withdraws. Works with regional and local health departments (LHD) to ensure TVFC policies are enforced. Ability to use Microsoft products such as Access, Word, and Excel.

(25%) Responds to customer inquiries in writing and via the telephone. Explains complex policies and procedures to clinic staff. Works with program staff to identify and resolve technical and procedural problems. Compiles data and reports as required by the Immunization Unit and the CDC. Explains complex policies and procedures to clinic staff who participate in the TVFC Program. Communicates with regional and LHD Immunization Program Managers both verbally and in writing. Provides technical assistance to and conducts clinic assessments with regional and LHDs to ensure that they meet the requirements of their contracts about all clinic assessment activities. Compiles written reports using Excel and Word.

(25%) Provides technical assistance and support for recruitment activities. Coordinates statewide efforts to recruit providers into the TVFC program. Explains TVFC program policies and procedures to current and newly enrolled clinic sites, doctors, nurses, and the public. Provides technical assistance and support for recruitment activities. Participates in provider training and education. Prepares and makes presentations to providers, regional and local health departments and contracted agencies.

(20%) Coordinates, directs, and implements Provider Enrollment activities. Trains regional and local health department staff how to conduct enrollment activities. Provides technical assistance and support for enrollment activities. Works with other agencies to market the TVFC, including the Texas Medical Association, Texas Nurses Association, School Nurses Association, Texas Pharmaceutical Association, Texas Osteopathic Medical Association and other organizations.

(5%) Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

INITIAL SELECTION CRITERIA:

 

  • Experience in public health work.
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in social services, public health, or a related field is generally preferred.
  • Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
  • Preference given to current DSHS immunization staff
