Brief Job Description:
Will conduct investigations across the state in areas that are experiencing high turnover, delinquency, increased intakes, abandoned cases, and/or any other critical response needs. The position will conduct investigations in counties across the state in both Residential Child Care Investigations and Daycare Investigations. May act as a training mentor for other childcare investigations division investigators. Travel = 90% of time Should expect to be deployed to areas of the state other than home region/headquarters with short notice. This position is housed within the specified region.
Essential Job Functions:
- Investigates reports of abuse/neglect received by the CCI division to assess current or future risk to children by interviewing parents, family members, and others; interviewing and examining children; assessing environment; and gathering pertinent information from other sources.
- Enters contacts, documents information and narratives into IMPACT within required agency time frames. Utilizes CLASS as needed.
- Attends and participates in training/meetings/staffings.
- Performs other duties as assigned and required to maintain unit operations.
- Assess old/delinquent investigations in order to bring them to completion.
- Coordinates or collaborates with DFPS Special Investigators, CCI Supervisors, CCI Investigators, DFPS Training & Development, CPS Conservatorship staff, local law enforcement, medical professionals, FACN, Child Care Regulations, CCI Master Investigations Supervisor, and/or DFPS Contracts as needed to assess or address risk to children in care.
- Complies with agency policy and time frames when conducting investigative tasks. · Serves as a mentor when needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge and/or experience in childcare regulation, investigations, or child protective services.
- Knowledge of agency policies and procedures.
- Skill in effective verbal and written communication.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, computer word processing software, electronic mail and ability to learn CCI software applications.
- Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to work outside normal working hours (8am-5pm, Monday through Friday)
- Ability to travel out of town and overnight.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships between Child Care Investigations staff, Health and Human Services Regulatory Division, Child Protective Services, the general public, medical, legal, educational, and other community resources.

Initial Screening Criteria:
At least two (2) years full-time work experience in DFPS Investigations (Child Care Investigations, Child Protective Investigations, Alternative Response, Adult Protective Services or Special Investigations).
Additional Information:
Open to current DFPS employees. Position is housed within specified region but travel statewide is likely.
