CPS FGDM Spec FSS II The position works under the direct supervision of the Child Protective Investigations (CPI) and functions as the CPI Family Group Decision Making (FGDM) supervisor over Family Team Meetings for the region. This position will assist the region in developing action plans, timelines and expected outcomes for the family team meeting program. The position will supervise and train additional staff to perform the facilitator function, as well as perform the roles of coordinator for preparation before and follow up after the meetings. The position will provide support by identifying previous research, training staff on the family group decision making model, assist in documenting the process developed for the region and provide routine program updates. The FGDM specialist will assist in developing policies and procedures for family group decision-making and collaborate with the CPS state office Liaison and CAPTA evaluation staff. The position will provide technical assistance to other areas of the region as expansion and region-wide implementation is planned. The position will be responsible for assisting in the development of regional policies, procedures and protocols to expand FGDM from pilot phases to additional field sites and will help the regional staff increase family-centered practice, engage the family in the planning process and use family strengths to overcome safety, permanency and wellbeing barriers. The position will work in conjunction with regional management, CPS state office, and caseworkers, to create a statewide process that embraces family strengths to resolve family issues.
Essential Job Functions (EJFs):
• Serves as lead FGDM facilitator, including supervising FGDM Staff, preparation, facilitation and follow up for family meetings in the program.
• Serves as the lead in developing the regional Family Group Decision Making (FGDM) model by developing action plans, time lines and expected outcomes for the project.
• Assists in the development and implementation of regional policies, procedures and protocols for FGDM pilot, and subsequent expansion and replication, in close coordination with other FGDM Specialists and the identified CPS state office liaison.
•Trains and informs regional staff and community stakeholders in the FGDM model and monitors district staff procedures to ensure the program goals are being realized.
• Works with community and professional groups to coordinate, improve and strengthen knowledge between CPS and external stakeholders.
• Prepares administrative reports to facilitate collection of region/district data associated with the FGDM model to monitor performance outcomes and the initiative effectiveness and makes recommendations for improvements.
• Performs other duties as assigned and required to maintain unit operations.
• Promotes and demonstrates appropriate respect for cultural diversity among co-workers and all work-related contacts.
• Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave policy.

Initial Screening Criteria:
• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Four years full-time consultative, supervisory, managerial, social service, professional or technical work which must include: analysis of work problems having an administrative aspect and interpretation of complex written material; or planning, organizing, and coordinating requirements for support services or program operations where a wide range of demands are involved, including interpretation of complex written material or Texas Department of Family & Protective Services experience. Acceptable Substitutions:
• One additional year full-time consultative, supervisory, managerial, social service, professional or technical work which must include: analysis of work problems having an administrative aspect and interpretation of complex written material; or planning, organizing, and coordinating requirements for support services or program operations where a wide range of demands are involved, including interpretation of complex written material or Texas Department of Family & Protective Services experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education, with a maximum substitution of four years.
• Graduate degree may be substituted for the required experience, with a maximum substitution of two years.
